    St.Mary's College Library was founded on 1st June 1983, two years after the inception of the college.   St.Mary's College, Manarcaud was established in 1981 as an aided Arts & Science College, affiliated to M.G. University & managed by St.Mary's Cathedral, Manarcaud & 10.5 km east of Kottayam Town.

The balance and the open book in between on the emblem of the college symbolizes the commitment to equity and social

justice for ensuring free access to information and knowledge to all without discrimination.

 

• To make the  best use of reading materials available in the form of books, periodicals, journals, newspapers and other

• non-book materials.

• To help in acquisition, processing, storage and retrieval of documents related to academic courses.

• To provide information to teachers in preparation of their course materials and also to keep abreast with current developments in different subject areas.

• To provide timely & accurate information to its users.

 

Technical Organisation of library collection :-

The documents are arranged in the library according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) devised by Melvil Dewey and follows Anglo American Cataloguing Rules (AACR-2) and the earlier physical form of card catalogue is now available as OPAC ( online public access catalogue) 

SOUL 2.0 is the software used.  The Library holdings are partially automated.

Resources :- 

The library holds a collection of  18,800 books and subscribes academic journals and periodicals.  Library has also a collection of CD – ROMS and  back Volumes of Journals.  It also has collection of Career and Counselling, Book Bank, Entry Service Collections, Institutional Repository of Thesis, Minor Research Projects etc.

Reprographic services:-

Library provides specialized reprographic services like printing, scanning ,in addition to the usual photocopying services.
